Safe Futures Liaison

Qualification:

  • Member in good standing of the NETWORK

Responsibilities:

  • Report at Board Meeting any updates/changes at Safe Futures.
  • Once a month, email or call the contact person at Safe Futures for information.
  • Inform BOD of anything we can do for Safe Futures.
  • Assure delivery of items donated at luncheon meeting. (Note: A staff member from Safe Futures or a NETWORK member delivers donated items to Safe Futures.)

Committee Information:

  • The NETWORK provides support throughout the year to Safe Futures with donations of food and gifts for use by residents of both the Genesis House Women’s Shelter and Phoenix House transitional housing.
  • Several of the early members of the NETWORK helped start Safe Futures and we continue to support their work. Both groups began in 1976, and were formalized by 1978.
  • While we think of Safe Futures as helping women in need, at any given time they are also housing many children (and occasionally, men). Various collections at the NETWORK luncheons have included toiletries, fresh fruit, arts & crafts and beach toys. Gift cards are especially appreciated to help cover medical prescriptions. We have been informed that the use of previous medical insurance is a potential way to be tracked by one’s abuser.
  • Mission: To help with obtaining needed items to assist the children and women who are living at Safe Futures.
  • Vision: To continue to support Safe Futures.
